Shopware 6 plugin

MetriXs has a first-party Shopware 6 plugin that adds the tracker to every page of your shop and verifies your shop automatically. It stays strictly opt-in: nothing loads until you connect it. No theme editing, no Twig snippets, no consent banner.

This guide walks through the full setup, step by step.

You need a MetriXs account. The plugin itself is free and fully functional; a free MetriXs plan is enough to get started.

  1. Go to app.metrixs.eu and sign up
  2. Verify your email address via the link you receive
  1. Log in to the MetriXs dashboard
  2. During onboarding (or via Settings → Sites), add your shop’s domain, e.g. yourshop.com — without https:// and without www.
  3. Skip the dashboard’s snippet verification step — the plugin verifies your shop automatically in step 4
  4. If prompted, start a trial or pick the free plan (events require an active plan)

The plugin authenticates with a site-scoped API key. It only grants access to that one shop (stats:read + event:write), never to your account, and can be revoked at any time.

  1. In the dashboard, go to Settings → Sites
  2. Expand your shop and find the API keys section
  3. Click Create API key and give it a name, e.g. “Shopware”
  4. Copy the key (mtx_live_...) immediately — it is shown once and cannot be retrieved later
  1. Download the latest plugin ZIP from the GitHub releases page (metrixs-mxcoan-X.Y.Z.zip)
  2. In your Shopware administration, go to Extensions → My extensions
  3. Click Upload extension and select the ZIP file

The plugin is tested on Shopware 6.5 and 6.6 (self-hosted).

In the Shopware administration, go to Extensions → My extensions → MX Cookieless Analytics → Configure:

Or click Connect with MetriXs: it opens the MetriXs dashboard where you create (or open) your account, and the shop is added, verified and tracking is enabled automatically. No API key copying.

Field What to enter
Enable tracking Leave off for now — turn on after verification
Site API key The key from step 2
MetriXs API URL Leave at the default https://app.metrixs.eu

Click Save. The plugin verifies your shop automatically with the same save. Verification runs at most once every 5 minutes — if you fix a mistake (a wrong key, for example), wait a moment and save again.

Then turn Enable tracking on and save again. Shopware rebuilds the theme cache on plugin activation, so the tracker appears on your pages right away.

  1. Open your shop in an incognito/private window and browse a few pages
  2. Open the MetriXs dashboard and check the Realtime view — pageviews should appear within seconds

How the verification works: the plugin asks the MetriXs API for a one-time challenge token, serves it from your own domain (/mxcoan/challenge), and the API fetches it back. Only someone who controls your domain can serve the token, so this proves ownership. The token is removed again once the handshake is done.

Once the plugin is connected, completed orders arrive on their own: the plugin reports an order when its transaction turns paid, and MetriXs counts it as a conversion, so revenue and conversion views fill without any extra setting. Each report carries the order’s gross total, currency, order number and line items (product name, price, quantity). Nothing personal is sent - no name, address, e-mail or order link.

An order is reported once, even if it is refunded later or its status changes. If MetriXs is briefly unreachable the report is not lost; it is retried on the next status change.

Setting Default Meaning
Enable tracking Off Master switch — nothing loads until the shop is connected and this is on
Site API key — Site-scoped key from the dashboard
MetriXs API URL https://app.metrixs.eu Only change for custom endpoints

The tracker script is served from app.metrixs.eu with a versioned URL, injected into the <head> of every page and loaded asynchronously (defer). It works fine alongside Shopware’s HTTP cache and full-page caching: the plugin flushes the cache when you connect it.

Verification fails

  • Make sure the shop is publicly reachable over HTTPS (no maintenance mode, no firewall blocking the MetriXs servers)
  • Check for hosting security modules that block unknown bots — the MetriXs API fetches the challenge URL from your shop’s public domain
  • Save the settings page again: the plugin retries verification (at most once every 5 minutes)

No data in the dashboard

  • Enable tracking must be on, and the shop must be connected (verified)
  • The domain must exactly match the domain in MetriXs (no www., no https://)
  • You are browsing your own shop as an admin? Storefront visits are tracked like any visitor — test from an incognito window if you only see your own traffic
  • Using a full-page cache? The plugin flushes it on connect; if you enabled tracking without reconnecting, purge the cache manually

Revenue stays at zero

  • Order tracking needs no setting, but it does need a connected shop: check that the plugin shows it is connected, and that the site’s commerce flag is on (the plugin enables it when it verifies)
  • Only transactions that turn paid count, so orders still open or in “process” are not counted yet

API key lost Keys cannot be retrieved after creation. Revoke the old one in the dashboard (Settings → Sites → API keys), create a new one, and update it in the plugin settings.

When you uninstall the plugin:

  • Your shop is automatically marked disconnected in MetriXs (events stop being accepted)
  • Your historical data stays in your MetriXs account
  • The plugin’s settings are removed from your database

You can always add the tracker manually with the snippet from the platform guides — the plugin simply automates installation, verification and cache handling.
