Shopify integration

MetriXs has a dedicated Shopify app that installs in one click, no DNS setup, no theme editing, no developer needed. It tracks your storefront pages cookieless (no consent banner) and captures checkout events + revenue via a Shopify web pixel.

  1. Go to the MetriXs app on Shopify
  2. Click Install, the app auto-creates your MetriXs account + site
  3. Enable the MetriXs Analytics App Embed block in your theme editor (the app gives you a direct link)
  4. Choose a plan:
    • Free, €0/mo, 5k pageviews, 1 site
    • Basic, €6/mo, 15k pageviews, 1 site
    • Team, €9/mo, 100k pageviews, 3 sites
    • Pro, €14/mo, 500k pageviews, 5 sites
  5. Open your dashboard, you’re logged in via SSO (no password needed)

Storefront pageviews appear immediately. Checkout events + revenue appear after the first checkout.

Section titled “Storefront (cookieless, no consent banner)”

Every storefront page, homepage, product pages, collections, cart, blog, is tracked by the MetriXs App Embed block. This is a regular <script> tag that fires cookieless:

  • No cookies, no localStorage, no session cookies, nothing stored on the visitor’s device
  • No consent banner required, GDPR-compliant without a cookie banner
  • No data leaves the EU, hosted in Germany, no US edge provider
  • Privacy-hash visitor IDs, daily-rotating HMAC hash, no IPs stored

This is the MetriXs privacy promise: your storefront tracking is cookieless, no consent banner, no data leaves the EU. This holds for every platform, including Shopify.

Shopify serves checkout pages separately from the storefront theme, so the App Embed block can’t reach them. MetriXs uses a Shopify web pixel to track checkout:

  • Checkout pageviews, /checkout, /checkouts/*, /orders/* (the thank-you page)
  • checkout_started, a visitor entered checkout (cart total included)
  • payment_submitted, payment details entered
  • order_completed, the order is placed (order ID, total, currency, and line items included)

These appear as custom events in your dashboard, each expandable to its property breakdown (total, order_id, currency).

  • Storefront: cookieless, no consent banner needed, the MetriXs USP holds.
  • Checkout pixel: in EU/UK markets, Shopify’s consent framework gates all web pixels behind a consent banner. This is a Shopify platform limitation we can’t disable, every Shopify analytics app has this. Outside the EU/UK, the pixel fires for all visitors. The pixel’s customer_privacy settings are set to the minimum (no analytics/marketing/sale_of_data consent required), so it fires for as many visitors as Shopify allows.

The checkout events power these Shopify-only dashboard features:

  • Revenue summary card, total order revenue for the selected period, with trend % vs the previous period.
  • Revenue in the graph, switch to the “Revenue” tab in the visitor graph to see daily/hourly revenue over time.
  • Revenue per source/country/device, the Sources, Locations, and Devices panels show a muted € revenue subValue beside the visitor count, which channels drive revenue.

A 4-step funnel showing where visitors drop off:

Step What it tracks
Visitors Unique visitors in the period
Checkout Started Visitors who entered the checkout flow
Payment Submitted Visitors who entered payment details
Order Completed Visitors who placed an order

Each step shows the count, the bar width (relative to visitors), the step conversion rate, and the drop-off count. The overall conversion rate (orders / visitors) is shown at the bottom.

Total revenue divided by the number of orders. Shown as a summary card, formatted as €.

The pixel sends order line items (product title, quantity, price) as a JSON property. The dashboard parses these and shows a Top Products panel, products ranked by total revenue, with quantity and order count.

Orders completed divided by unique visitors, as a percentage. Shown as a summary card.

MetriXs focuses on the essentials, so small shops get a clear, fast view of what matters, without extra setup.

  • Upgrade/downgrade: in the Shopify app → Settings → choose a different plan (Shopify prorates automatically)
  • Cancel: uninstall the app from Shopify (Shopify auto-cancels the recurring charge)
  • Billing: billed through Shopify (Shopify is the merchant of record, you manage everything in your Shopify admin)

One MetriXs account can hold multiple Shopify stores. One store carries the plan (the “billing store”); other stores share the plan and show a “Covered by [plan] on [shop]” notice. You only pay once per account.
